Jealousy leading to demise was the overall theme of the story. Although Dorian made more money than him, Miles could have ignored it. He lets small things like that get in his head and could have used that as motivation to try and get promoted at his IT company. But he used it a fuel to try and get revenge.
Assuming any piece of evidence is true through one point of view is wrong. Miles could have further investigated this situation to determine if they were actual twins. Once he found out him and Dorian weren't, he could have looked for Max, his real twin. Many people would be in disbelief if they saw someone that was their polar opposite to be their twin. Miles' pitfall and lesson he should learn from this story is to not assume any given piece of information is automatically true in a situation this big unless he knows there's ample evidence to support it.
